Newlin B. Wildes

American author who appear to have written just two novels, both horse stories and also some short stories for magazines. One of his magazine stories was adapted to form the Gene Autrey vehicle, Heart of Rio Grande, which also features his iconic horse Champion!

SUMMARY: Historical horse/farming story set in 1919. Horse mad Martin is overjoyed to be spending the summer working on a horse and cow farm owned by a friend of the family. There he learns a lot and falls in love with the filly Sally, but his happiness is marred by the farm manager Jud who takes a dislike to him.

The Horse that had Everything is easy to find in the USA, especially the paperback edition. The Best Summer is a lot rarer. Both books are hard to find in the UK and  elsewhere, although there was also a German edition  of The Horse that had Everything.
